Our busy Laboratory with collection centres across the Canterbury region is looking for candidates to fill multiple full time permanent vacancies.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer centric individual to work collaboratively as part of the Patient Services team. The key tasks include Pathology sample collection, provide exceptional customer service to our patients and referrers, and prepare specimens for transportation, maintaining cleanliness of collection centre and order supplies.

• 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, plus rostered weekend overtime available once suitably trained.
• Normal shifts are either 7am-4pm or 7:30am-4.30pm and 08:00-5:00pm Monday to Friday

The ideal applicant will be a Registered Medical Laboratory Pre Analytical Technician or have previous experience in Phlebotomy or cannulation.

We also welcome applicants interested in an entry-level Patient Services Trainee role.

• Enthusiasm for health and science and or previous experience in either healthcare or a laboratory setting.
• Are a Customer service champion, compassionate, empathetic and who enjoys working with people from a variety of backgrounds with varying physical and mental health needs.
• Great interpersonal skills with the ability to provide an equitable, professional, caring, quality health service.
• Ability to work in a methodical manner with excellent attention to detail and able to follow strict procedural guidelines while work under pressure.
• Good computer skills together with accurate data entry skills.
• Excellent customer focused problem solving and multi-tasking skills, managed with a sense of resilience and positivity.
• Reliable team player with the ability to support and contribute to a team of skilled & talented individuals.
• A clean, New Zealand Full Drivers licence and flexibility to work varying shift times and in all collection centre locations.
• Must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19
• Have a sound knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory operation including health and safety and quality assurance requirements.

We will provide you with 2-3 months paid training. The starting rate for this position is $21.50 however, remuneration will be based on your skills, experience and qualifications.

If you are not already registered with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand, we will support you working towards becoming a Qualified Pre-Analytical Technician.
