The opportunity
We have a permanent full-time opportunity for an Occupational Health Advisor to join our Health branch in SER.
The primary purpose of this role is to support the development of occupational health and fitness for work systems and governance frameworks to facilitate the mitigation of occupational related illness and on-going compliance of Transport workers and contractors state-wide with all relevant safety, legislative and regulatory requirements.
As Occupational Health Advisor, you will be expected to:
- Provide subject matter expertise to support the delivery of Occupational Health services to ensure high quality outcomes for workers, and to improve and promote best practice in Occupational Health based on research, evidence and evaluation.
- Work with teams to assist in the delivery of on-going occupational health programs to recognise, assess and control occupational health risks and incidents to support worker health and safety.
- Assist the development and delivery of training, advice and management of Occupational Health services such as fitness for work program activities, musculoskeletal disorder prevention, health assessment management, drug and alcohol and fatigue risk management
- Assist with investigation and analysis of occupational ill health, injury, sickness absence, and other general occupational health and safety issues.
- Provide support for the liaison with regulatory bodies to leverage best practice and current safety methodologies, practices and processes for the organisation.
- Liaise with key stakeholders including relevant unions to foster support and compliance with health risk assessments, job demands analyses, health assessments and related processes.
- Contribute to the development and revision of policies and procedures related to occupational health, ensuring they are aligned with organisational objectives, the overall policy framework and legislative requirements.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications to a degree level in a related health discipline or significant relevant Occupational Health experience in areas and disciplines such as: Allied Health, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, nursing etc.
- Driver’s licence
- Knowledge of Australian Work Health and Safety Legislation, Codes of Practice and Guidance documentation
- You are passionate about improving the health in the workplace and will have experience in injury prevention, fatigue management, manual handling, workstation ergonomics, health assessments.
- You will be conversant in using supporting technologies.
- Having excellent interpersonal skills, you are capable of building and maintaining strong professional relationships with stakeholders as well as successfully managing your time and work demands across competing priorities.
- You will be a strategic, innovate thinker who enjoys presenting solutions to problems and can apply a collaborative working relationship that influences rather than directs for best outcomes.
