We have an exciting opportunity to join the Hospitality & Food Service team as a Chef in our National Distribution Centre in Magna Park, Milton Keynes working in the Partner Dining Room.
What’s the role about?
In this permanent role, you'll work alongside our enthusiastic catering team and provide nutritious, delicious meals for our Partners to enjoy whilst maintaining the highest possible kitchen standards.
You'll support the Catering teams ensuring that they comply with the food safety legislation as set out in the John Lewis food policy. You'll achieve department specific KPI targets successfully and adhere to all service level agreements.
If you have an NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking or a City & Guilds 706 1 & 2 or equivalent and have a passion for delivering high quality meals this role could be for you.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- This is a demanding role within the Catering team which will be providing food to Partners. The role requires excellent communication and customer service skills. It can be physically demanding with some manual handling and would suit someone who is highly motivated and able to take initiative when working on their own.
- The responsibility will range from working in a small to large kitchen, preparing hot and cold foods and pastry items ensuring a clean and tidy working environment.
- Operating, cleaning and maintaining equipment within the department is essential as well as having an excellent knowledge of the John Lewis food safety standards.
Job Requirements:
- Apply the John Lewis food safety policies and procedures which include all legislation applicable to the Catering operation
- Ability to oversee the opening, closing and daily running of the operation
- Prepare, serve and present food to a high standard
Required essential experience skills and qualifications:
- Food safety level 1,
- Health & Safety level 1
- NVQ level 1 and 2
- Experience of working within a customer service based environment
- Experience of working within a catering environment
Desirable experience skills and qualifications:
Although not essential, it would be desirable for the candidate to have the following:
- Food Safety level 2 and 3
- Health and Safety level 2 and 3
