Role and responsibilities

• Read and analyze floorplans to determine job requirement i.e. correct materials and procedures
• Purchase and selection of materials including timber
• Measure, cut and build frames for houses, walls, windows, doors, and staircases
• Measure and install furniture such as cabinets, shelves and more
• Maintenance and repairs of existing structures and fittings
• Laying sub-floor and floorboards
• Check the accuracy of work with the use of levels and surveying equipment
• Communicate with other trades professionals to ensure project completed in a timely manner
• Effectively use a large range of hand and power tools

Qualifications and education requirements

• Certificate III in Carpentry or at least 3 years’ work experience in lieu of a formal qualification
• A minimum of 2 years’ work experience in addition to the above qualification
• Driver’s license
• White Card for employment in the construction industry
