In September 2020, Unilever announced the intention to build a new sustainable campus site in Kingston, London to house the employees who currently work in 100 Victoria Embankment in Blackfriars, Lever House in Kingston, Unilever House in Leatherhead and Graze in Richmond. We are creating our own Unilever sustainable, agile work environment, purposefully bringing us together in our own Unilever ecosystem. The campus is due to be completed in December 2023 and will consist of two interconnected buildings, as well as landscaped surrounding areas.

JOB PURPOSE

This is an exciting role inside one of Unilever’s most prestigious teams, the Global Pension Team. The individual will become a key part of our financial pension reporting team and responsible for coordinating and consolidating over c. 200 plans from c. 150 countries around the world with assets and liabilities of over 20bn. You will be joining an international team with direct access to senior Unilever leadership teams and the ability to shape future pension design.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Quarterly and Annual group accounting process.

  • Coordination of global actuaries and internal pension team to deliver figures on monthly, quarterly and year end basis.
  • Ensure that figures are complete, and processes are followed, mainly in excel, Access and with Visual Basic.
  • Maintaining database of Pension plan financials for mainly defined benefit retirement and medical plans but also defined contribution.
  • Coordinating quarterly and year end pension reporting.
  • Third party vendor management (actuarial firms, consultants etc).

Controls and framework around accounting process

  • Owner of the process framework and ensures all steps are followed
  • Keep the processes updated and complete
  • Ensure that all controls are met for audit purposes and raise concerns.
  • Responsible for ensuring that our internal projection models and internal accounting system (SAP BCS tie up)
  • Liaise with internal Group accounting team to consolidate figures.
  • Developing and maintaining data collection and forecasting tools

Forecasting of financial figures, plus analytics

  • Maintaining our internal projection models and produce results
  • Ensure results are within acceptable; ranges and maintain reporting process for outliers
  • Forecasting pension financials and how they impact Unilever key metrics.
  • Cost interrogation of benefit programs.
  • Tying up accounting, financial, reward and HR systems numbers and being comfortable moving between systems.

Pension Risk Management

  • Responsible for maintaining our Risk models with input from external sources.
  • Periodically compile reports and slides so that we present to the Financial and Committees controlling risk
  • Providing input to our actuarial advisor to maintain Risk model.

Report writing

  • Responsible for producing periodic reports explaining the accounting numbers, with supporting explanations.
  • Responsible for producing risk strategy slides.
  • Produce dashboards summarising information quickly in an impactful way

Important Relationships

  • Communicating Guidance with HR and Finance teams around the world.
  • Participating in the development of training sessions.
  • Input into negotiations with Trustees around the world.

ALL ABOUT YOU

  • Actuarial degree/training exams or accounting qualification
  • Good spreadsheet and VB/Power BI ability
  • Knowledge of IAS19 accounting would be an advantage
  • Attention to detail
  • A self-motivated and driven individual
  • Enquiring mind and able to keep focus and moving forward.
  • Very task and project driven
  • Superb numerate and system/technical skills

Recruitment Fraud

In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs.  These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
