What you get to do every day
- Report changes where necessary after maintaining payroll operations via company policies and procedures
- Handle reconciliation of employee deductions and other relevant liabilities
- Using federal and state regulations and guidelines, certify company compliance
- Provide assistance as necessary for all internal and external audits related to payroll
- Providing payroll information by answering questions and requests
- Maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data
- Put together summaries of employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments and employee federal and state income and social security taxes to calculate all payroll liabilities
- Compile all information in reference to summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages for reports
- Continue employee confidence in payroll operations by keeping sensitive information confidential
- Perform review and verification of source documents
- Payroll record maintenance by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
- Retrieve and assess information in order to resolve payroll discrepancies
- Perform other tasks as necessary
- Preparing relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for circulation to department heads
- Relevant experience should include 2+ years in payroll
- Benefits payroll experience preferred
- semi-Monthly Payrolls experience
- Previous experience handling high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.
- Well-informed in basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
- Dependability in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills in particular
- Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data
- Mastery of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
- Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred
- Experience using accounting software
