The Pacific Health Workforce Action Plan (the Plan) is a key action in the Health Workforce work programme for 2021-22 and will be aligned to the Health Workforce strategic framework and programme of work.

 The Plan will support the delivery of the following two priority areas from Ola Manuia:

• Changing the health and disability system to deliver more responsive, more accessible, and high-quality services for Pacific families.
• Strengthening actions within government and across sectors to create an environment that improves health equity for Pacific families. 

 Ola Manuia also outlines the outcomes for each of its priority areas - the relevant outcomes that the Plan will contribute to are:

• Pacific people live longer in good health
• Pacific people have equitable health outcomes.

 The Plan will aim to take a multi-pronged cultural, clinical and community-focused approach to build a workforce that can deliver more responsive, accessible and high-quality services for Pacific families and communities, and contribute to the achievement of Ola Manuia.

 The Plan will provide coordinated actions to grow the Pacific health and disability workforce with the aim of getting the workforce to a level where it can achieve equitable health outcomes for Pacific peoples.

 Purpose of the Pacific Health Workforce Expert Advisory Group

The purpose of the Pacific Health Workforce Expert Advisory Group (the Group) is to provide expert technical advice to the Health Workforce Directorate, Ministry of Health, to help develop the Plan.

 Members of the Group will bring strong cultural intelligence, clinical expertise, community knowledge and skills, lived experience, and research and evaluation.
