Operational Risk Manager

 

Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk and Business Continuity, there is an exciting opportunity for a professional and talented Operational Risk Manager within the Alphabet and BMW Financial Services Risk function. Alphabet’s Risk function (AL-UK-R) provides high-quality operational risk advice and guidance across all of Alphabet’s and BMW Financial Services products, services and processes and will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of an effective and independent Operational Risk Framework and Culture.

 

This role will play a pivotal part in our success.  In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting with the Operational Risk Strategy & Framework across all three business units (AL-UK, SF1-UK & SF1-UK-IE) to ensure that it is assigned to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Providing operational risk excellence, guidance and governance for operational risk and risk events including the governance of action plans.
  • Responsible for establishing a reporting structure, including a Heat Map of the organisational risks (including risk events) to demonstrate adequacy of internal (and where necessary external) controls.
  • Identification and management of Key Risk Indicators and linked key controls.
  • Regular operational risk communications to employees in order to raise and maintain awareness of Operational Risk Culture, creating and increasing awareness for Operational Risk.
  • Supporting with the implementation and maintenance of a Business Continuity Plan and Vendor Management including outsourcing governance (Process/Controls) and Supplier Business continuity

Qualifications

  • Experienced knowledge of Operational Risk Management and creation of an effective Operational Risk Framework.
  • Knowledge of consumer and product laws relevant to the automotive sector a positive.
  • Experience of implementing Internal Control Systems and experience of overseeing Business Continuity Plans.
  • Knowledge of the Financial Conduct Authority requirements for risk management and a good understanding of the regulatory requirements impacting on the business.
  • Strong verbal/written communication (including report writing) skills at all levels with excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organised and delivery orientated with strong project and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills including ability to swiftly identify issues, deliver appropriate challenge and recommend fit for purpose solutions.
  • Able to work on own initiative, source and benchmark the right information and identify opportunities to enhance the reputation of Operational Risk and embed a risk culture.
  • Strong team player with the ability and desire to lead, develop and support others.
