    Job Description Summary

Here in Operational Risk Capital & Analytics, we're looking for a Senior Manager to join our team

    Job Description

At Lloyds Banking Group, we have a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper and to become the best Financial Services provider for our customers. Through our brands, our Group has a relationship with just about every household and community in the UK. We underpin the lives of millions of individuals and businesses, and play a key role in helping to build a growing UK economy.

Here in the Operational Risk Capital & Analytics team, we calculate operational risk capital, including owning all elements of the Group, Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets (LBCM) and Ring-Fenced Bank (RFB) capital modelling (i.e. design, implementation, control and governance). We also produce the operational risk components of the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) documents (including writing the text that goes to the regulator) and produce operational risk stress test outputs, including owning all aspects of the Group stress test model. We have oversight of the Pillar 1 operational risk capital calculations prepared by Finance colleagues and lead the Divisional operational risk capital allocation approach. In addition, we provide SME input to broader elements of the design and execution of the Group operational risk management framework (including e.g. scenario analysis and loss data capture)

    What you'll be doing

As the Operational Risk Capital – Senior Manager, you’ll analyse, investigate and evaluate risk. You’ll develop policy recommendations and challenge and advise assigned areas of the business to ensure risks are understood, mitigated and controlled. You may have the opportunity to lead a team of risk professionals and deputise for senior colleagues.

    Your accountabilities will include:

    • Supporting and at times leading discussions with various internal and external partners including the business, audit, the model risk & validation team, senior risk colleagues and the regulator

    • Leading the delivery of the Operational Risk (OR) components of the Group, LBCM and Ring- Fenced Bank Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), including potentially leading on one or more of the following:

      • Capital calculation process and drafting the OR sections of the ICAAP

      • Preparing papers for senior governance forums and ensuring a well-controlled environment including keeping the Group, LBCM and RFB capital models within governance

      • Providing proactive support to scenario analysis design and implementation and constructive challenge to scenario outputs

    • Supporting delivery of the OR elements of the Group’s stress testing exercises including potentially leading on one or more of the following:

      • Implementing approaches for forecasting operational risk losses

      • Preparing papers for senior governance forums

    • Ensuring a well-controlled environment and undertaking ad-hoc analytics e.g. loss data studies

And as we’re embracing collaborative, agile ways of working, there will be opportunities for flexible working. Join us and discover how this could work for you.

What you can bring to the role

    Essential:

    • Deep understanding of U.K. regulatory capital framework, in relation to operational risk, including operational risk capital modelling

    • Solid understanding of operational risk management and the risk profile of financial institutions

    • Experience of liaison with the U.K. Financial Regulator

    • Significant expertise in performing coding, modelling and calculations relating to Operational Risk Capital

    • MSc/PhD in a quantitative discipline (ideally Statistics/Data Science)

    Desirable:

    • Ability to program (ideally in R) and understanding of databases (ideally Access)

Outstanding partner management and written and verbal communication skills are also of critical importance.

So what can we offer you in return?

You'll be rewarded with excellent benefits, personal development and a career that’s enriching and full of opportunity!

As well as a competitive salary, you’ll receive:

    • A Discretionary Performance Share Award

    • Generous pension contribution

    • 30 Days leave plus bank holidays

    • A flexible cash pot (4% of base salary) to spend on benefits

    • Private health cover

    • Share Schemes

In return for your expertise, you'll enjoy our total dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We'll help you perform at your best today, so you can fulfil all your potential in the future.

We're committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve, and to building an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit. We support the principles of agile working and are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We're an equal opportunity employer and deeply value diversity within our organisation.

    Together we make it possible.

At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain recover. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you'll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

We're focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together we’re building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.
