Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations and Maintenance, maintains assigned York Region facilities and offices in a clean, safe and attractive condition to provide a safe and pleasant environment for staff and visitors.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance under a computerized preventative maintenance program as assigned.
- Moves furniture and equipment, hangs pictures, white boards, cork boards, etc. as assigned.
- Maintains floors in garage facilities, mechanical rooms as well as outdoor grounds and sidewalks.
- Maintains building lighting, replaces bulbs and starters as required.
- Repairs minor plumbing and electrical problems.
- Maintains or replaces various door hardware, such as door closers, locksets, etc., as cylinders as required.
- Sweeps, shovels snow and salts outside entrances as required or scheduled.
- Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, hazard free order; follows established procedures.
- Travels to any “out building†maintained by Facilities Management required to assist the Building Operator as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Secondary School Graduation Diploma or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum one year maintenance experience in a commercial office facility.
- Valid Ontario Class “G†driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
- Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software in a Windows environment.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, lift heavy objects of up to 80 lbs and work at high elevations of up to 50 feet.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, teamwork, initiative/self-management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability
- Ability to work shift work with occasional afternoon and weekend work.
