SafeWork SA is a business unit within DTF. SafeWork SA is responsible for providing work, health and safety, public safety and state-based workplace relations services across South Australia. As a regulator, our Investigators and Inspectors ensure work, health and safety, and public safety standards are met and appropriate action is taken when breaches of laws are detected. We also help people better understand their work health and safety responsibilities.

About the opportunity

SafeWork SA is looking for individuals that are keen to use their skills and aptitudes to positively influence industry stakeholders in a safety context.

The Occupational Hygienist is accountable to the Team Leader, Work Environment Unit to provide high-level advice and expert consultancy to SafeWork SA on current and emerging workplace hazards with particular focus on occupational hygiene. The role is responsible for the delivery of state-wide compliance and enforcement intervention programs within a range of industries. The Occupational Hygienist will provide advice on matters relating to emerging workplace hazards to both internal and external stakeholders, which considers legislation, knowledge of state and national initiatives, standards, literature and sound professional judgement.

You will have proven ability to interact and engage with stakeholders in a respectful manner that leads to successful outcomes. You will uphold and demonstrate SafeWork SA’s values at all times and empower others around you to behave in a similar manner.

Special conditions for employment

Engagement in this role is subject to a satisfactory Department of Human Services General Employment Probity Check. A renewal will be required every three years.

Will be required to take part in the on-call roster

Some out of hours work may be required

Some intra and interstate travel requiring overnight absences may be required

Possession of a class 1 driver's licence

Subject to completion of a satisfactory police (criminal) and ASIO (politically motivated violence) security check

Remuneration

PO2 - $84,399 - $93,400
