Taranaki boasts some of New Zealand’s most iconic natural landscapes like Mt Taranaki and many adventure activities. The rugged and wild coastline is home to more than 12 world-class surf breaks. The Nurse Manager - South Taranaki Rural Health, provides clinical, operational and professional nursing leadership to the nursing teams to facilitate the effective, safe operation of Hawera Hospital.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the nursing staff at South Taranaki Rural Health based at Hawera Hospital;
  • Contribute to the achievement of the strategic direction of the organisation;
  • Ensure effective and efficient patient care and customer service;
  • Engage with the broader community through the Community Health Forum;
  • Strive to eliminate health inequalities and achieve health equity for the South Taranaki population.

Ideally the candidate will have:

  • Registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC.
  • A post graduate qualification (ideally Master of Nursing) or diploma in leadership and management
  • Minimum five years post registration experience
  • Engaged with PDRP
  • Experience with an integrated health care model
  • Previous leadership experience essential
  • Change and financial management experience (desirable)
  • Excellent nursing knowledge and skills that drives good patient outcomes and safety as well as advanced experience in a range of clinical settings
  • A strong focus on team philosophy and working collaboratively
  • Ability to think strategically, operationally and objectively
  • Good computer literacy skills
