We are recruiting for this company who owns a 70 bed aged care centre that caters to residents with complex needs at Hospital, Palliative, Rest home and Dementia levels of care.

About the Nurse Educator role:

The Nurse Educator supports continuing professional development and the delivery of evidence-based nursing practice.

As a role model, the Nurse Educator is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate to meet the needs of individual practice settings, the wider organisation and discipline, and people and whānau.

The Nurse Educator is responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating and revising continuing education programmes.

They are critical players in assuring quality educational experiences that prepare the nursing workforce for a diverse, ever-changing health care environment. They are the leaders who document the outcomes of educational programmes and guide students and nursing staff through the learning process.

Some of the responsibilities of the Nurse Educator role will be:

• Te HÄ«ranga O Te Mahi Hauora: Excellence in clinical practice: facilitate evidenced-based learning with staff to improve equity, quality and health outcomes
• Te Arataki Me Te Whakawhitiwhiti Whakaaro: Leadership and consultation: Demonstrate the skills of system management and leadership to create, maintain and develop desired nursing programmes and shape the future of nursing. Improving indigenous health, incorporating the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in the working practices and implementing agreed Māori models of Care.
• Matauranga: Education (to others): Possess a sound understanding of contemporary educational theories, principles and models underlying the design of learning programmes and the value of adult learning
• Te whakapai ake i te kounga rangahau me te huringa: Work to improve the quality and outcomes of healthcare: Develop critical inquiry and the ability to conduct research and utilise findings to identify and solve educational and practice-based problems
• Te Whakawhanake Ngaiotanga Whaiaro: Work collaboratively with health care teams: Demonstrate effective communication skills that promote collaborative teamwork and enhance partnership among health profession educational and clinical practice
• Empower, educate and support staff to: Provide safe, evidence-based and effective nursing care for people and whānau

Skills & experience required for this

• Registered with NZNC with current APC
• Team player qualities are essential
• Teaching/mentoring experience in a clinical setting
• Demonstrates commitment to clinical education
• Qualification in adult learning would be an advantage (not essential)
• Demonstration of recent clinical competency
• Shows cultural sensitivity and safe practice
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills
• Professional demeanor and high level of personal integrity
