About this role

The Emergency Services Network (ESN) programme is a key part of the strategy for the BT Enterprise function and is a major BT Group programme.  Our Emergency Services customers demand the right ESN products to carry out their essential duties, saving lives and keeping us safe.  This job is essential to ensuring that ESN products are successfully launched, on time, with the right customer experience and to cost.  This role will be located in BT Networks on behalf of ESN and BT Enterprise.

 

Macro network provides extensive coverage and capacity, but in many instances we need to deploy bespoke RAN solutions to meet specific customer requirement typically indoors. We design and deploy bespoke inbuilding and customer specific RAN solutions to solve coverage or add capacity, In tunnel solutions for road and rail, high capacity venue such as stadiums or airports. We also design bespoke temporary solutions for public events.

 

Designs by this team need to ensure they support the cutting-edge features, coupled with a high availability for all B2B and ESN customers. We are responsible to ensure that our customers have both coverage and sufficient capacity to allow the end user to support services they need from the network. We achieve this by developing hi availability designs, and constantly pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved in a mobile network.

You'll have the following responsibilities

Design bespoke, often very complex, RAN indoor and outdoor solutions to meet agreed customer requirements for 2G/3G/4G/5G services as applicable.

Decide on technology scope of the relevant customer solutions deployed to meet each specified service requirement.

Decide on existing RAN product range applied to achieve overall customer requirement and to ensure overall solution meets specified contractual obligations.

Provide input to RAN technology roadmap, based on in-life performance of existing solutions and customer requirements.

Act as a subject matter technical expert, working with BT CFU supporting Sales and Service management activities.

Lead and own design of bespoke Special Project’s solutions for Tunnels, Airports, Shopping Centre. Temporary Events & other High Capacity locations.

Develop and continually improve processes and methodologies used within the team.

Support the field trials of new products and initiatives prior to wider deployments.

You'll have the following skills & experience

Deep knowledge & experience of Mobile Radio Access Network Design including small cell, DAS indoor technology, in-tunnel and associated backhaul including knowledge of GERAN, UTRAN & LTE design or planning environment.

Experience of leading successful teams and possess an understanding of mobile network performance, optimisation, and Coverage testing tools.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Good analytical skills – ability to source and analyse data in-order to identify and where necessary build the case for change & improvements.

Knowledge of evolving industry trends best practice and customer requirements.

Good understanding of BT/EE’s tools and systems.

Possessing a proven track record of successful delivery with the ability to manage interaction with external parties and customers including multiple MNO deployments would be beneficial.

The successful candidate must be willing to undergo BPSS Level Government Screening which requires residence in the UK for a minimum of 2 years.
