POSITION SUMMARY
Weld inspector ensures the quality and accuracy of the coach build to maintain highest possible degree of customer satisfaction. By utilizing the customer sales order and MCI specifications and standards the inspector understands and enforces MCI procedure during coach build.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Inspect coach build for quality and accuracy to MCI specifications and standards. Ensure CSO requirements are met and do not conflict with the BOM.
- Complete inspections according to documented departmental checklists and LiveQA dispatch.
- Document defects and re-inspect as necessary.
- Utilize quality standards to assist production in proper coach build.
- Root cause problem solving as necessary of related departmental issues and customer complaints.
- Support reduction of rework by highlighting repeat problems via production supervision and other procedure avenues.
- Verify production tests as required.
- Additional tasks and projects as assigned by Team Leader and QA Manager.
- Report any incidents of industrial sabotage, willful neglect and apathy by hourly or salaried employees that affects product quality.
- Assures completeness, quality of welds using visual inspection and extensive blueprinting referencing.
- Understands fixturing and jigging related issues. Familiar with MCI welding standards and external national welding codes.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Mechanical, Electrical, Welding, Paint knowledge as appropriate for inspection area, with manufacturing proves and production experience.
- Eye for detail and high personal standards and concern for doing things right.
- Strong assertive character to be able to enforce quality standards.
