We have a great opportunity for a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join our genuine mixed practice based in South Molton. This is a full-time role working 4 or 5 days whatever your preference and approximately one Saturday day shift per month will be required. Our mixed animal out of hours provision is currently required at rate of 1 in 5 weekends but will be improved by two Veterinary Surgeons returning from maternity leave in Spring 2022.
The role would be a mixture of set small animal consulting and operating days and farm/small holder work, including cattle (dairy and beef), sheep and some equine.
Market Vets is a longstanding, two- site practice covering North Devon. Our mixed veterinary team is based in the market town of South Molton in a purpose-built premises. Our sister site, which provides companion animal services only as well as dog grooming, is based in Barnstaple.
We pride ourselves in offering a quality, friendly and affordable service with 15–20-minute consultations. We provide services to a mixture of traditional beef and sheep farms, small holders as well as bigger dairy units requiring high level preventative health and fertility visits, with no routine TB testing.
We have an excellent range of equipment to allow you to provide a high level of diagnostic and treatment options, including digital x-ray, dental x-ray, large animal x-ray, endoscopy, full lab on both sites, small and large animal ultrasound, orthopaedics, and K-laser.
Our surgeries are in a beautiful area of the country, with easy access to the stunning beaches and beautiful scenery of the North Devon coast and Exmoor yet retaining easy rail and motorway links to historic Exeter and the rest of the country if required. We are in the perfect location for lovers of the outdoors, allowing you to indulge and immerse in everything from paddle boarding and surfing, to lovely walks and cream teas.
We currently have a mixture of 11 full-time and part-time Veterinary Surgeons, 11 Veterinary Nurses, 4 Veterinary Nursing support staff and 12 Support Team members. We have two certificate holders in small animal surgery and medicine respectively. A new mixed-animal team member will be mentored by members of our small animal and farm
team and help is always available to facilitate learning and gaining of experience where required. There will be set days on companion and large animal work, although this will need to remain flexible depending on the daily needs of the practice. There is ample opportunity to develop your interests, with CPD and further qualifications greatly encouraged.
This role can be tailored to suit a new graduate or a more experienced Veterinary Surgeon. Our main requirements are enthusiasm and desire to be part of a caring, fun and dedicated team who are always aiming to give a great client experience and high-quality care to our patients.
