What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people. Southern DHB is pleased to be accepting applications for a Medical Director for the Primary & Community Directorate to cover a secondment until 31 August 2022.
This is a district wide role and your main task will be to ensure the delivery of high quality health and disability services.
As Medical Director for Primary & Community Services, your role is critical in ensuring that Southern DHB continues to be a leader in providing quality and equitable health services to our community.
You will provide medical leadership both strategically and operationally, ensuring that we maintain strong quality and safety protocols, procedures and processes while at the same time developing strategy that will explore innovative ways of providing care to our patients amidst current social and economic problems.
This role will also ensure we actively support the development, professional conduct and welfare of our Specialist Medical Officers.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our clinical leadership team and support the development of an integrated range of well-connected services in our community.
Responsibilities
and Develop and implement clinical policies and standards in a cohesive manner.
Ensure accountability and delivery of safe resource allocation and decision making during budget setting and day to day resource management and quality improvement.
Please note that the position is based in Dunedin or Southland however this is a district role and will involve travel around the Southern Region

The successful applicant will be a practising clinician who has experience in service innovation and a keen interest in clinical governance.
It is essential that you have demonstrated experience in a relevant area and be a proven leader with extensive knowledge of clinical quality and best practice and their applications within the Health Sector.
You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with a wide range of people and promote the culture of the Southern DHB Vision and Values.
You will foster an environment where the people within our organisation work in partnership to promote an optimum patient experience.
It is important you are confident and capable in providing professional advice to team members and working with the professional leaders to ensure a skilled and credentialed workforce.

If you have already been fully vaccinated you will need to provide proof of this to Occupational Health staff. If you are not yet fully vaccinated you must make arrangements to undertake your first vaccination no later than the 15 November 2021 and be fully vaccinated, as required by the Order, by 1 January 2022.
