Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Part of our highly respected Te Waka KÅtuia Engagement and Partnerships Group, this role involves managing all aspects of engagement with news media in the Lower North Island for Waka Kotahi, including maintaining strong relationships with regional media.
The purpose of this role is to provide senior-level strategic advice to ensure that Waka Kotahi's media engagement activities across the Lower North Island help to achieve our strategic goals, and contribute to building and maintaining a strong external reputation for the organisation. In addition to media engagement, the Media Manager will also contribute to the development and implementation of external and internal communications strategies.

Within Te Waka KÅtuia, the media team helps to uphold Waka Kotahi's social licence (trust and confidence) by managing our reputation and telling great stories to achieve change - through effective engagement with news media.

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao MÄori and promote tikanga and Te Reo MÄori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
