Job Description:

Freshpork NZ is a family-owned business, passionate about producing quality New Zealand pork products. We have been delivering New Zealand pork to Kiwis for over 35 years and as New Zealand’s leading pork processor and wholesaler, we process and market approximately 40% of the pork farmed in NZ. With over 180 people in our team operating from 5 sites, we are committed to the long-term sustainability of the NZ pork industry, through innovative processing that provides fresh, high quality, tasty NZ pork products to New Zealanders and their families.

Freshpork Bay City, our Timaru production facility is New Zealand’s largest pork specialist abattoir and butchery operation. Our dedicated team of over 70 staff process almost 4,500 pigs per week. We are looking for a Labourer to join our team.

The key part of this role will be recovery tasks including collecting blood and offal.  As part of our production crew you'll also complete a range of manual handling tasks that support daily slaughter operations and set up.

 Job Requirements:

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have high attention to detail as recovery tasks are very specific

• Ensure accurate records are kept

• Have a good attitude and be reliable

• Flexibility to respond to production requirements

• Need physical stamina and strength due to the physicality of the job as well as a gentle touch due to teh delicacy of the product.

There is a rotating shift through Sunday - Friday.  4-5 days per week.  Start tiems will be 4:30am or 6am depending on production.  Finish times depend on processing times.
