Company Overview:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at our facility in Guelph. With over 16 turning and milling centres, we are a Precision CNC plant that works within a variety of industries such as: automotive, defense, oil & gas, mining, marine and several commercial applications. We are looking for a member to join our growing team!
Responsibilities:
Engineering Duties
- Review prints and specifications, develop machining concepts, work holding, review and approve drawings
- Create new and correct/modify/rewrite existing process sheets defining each operation required to move a component, sub-assembly, or assembly through the complete manufacturing process from raw material to shipping
- Create process drawings and 3D Modelling using Solidworks as required
- Verify all customer specifications have been read and followed throughout the process plan
- Coordinate and review machining process with programmer and review tooling requirements with tooling coordinator
- Internally manage technical requirements with new projects until fully integrated into production
- Design, build, modify new & existing fixtures and gauges for production
- Maintain records for all current and past processes, update documentation when necessary
- Participate in applying engineering concepts to optimize the use of equipment in house as well as troubleshooting to resolve machining and tooling issues with team members
- Act as main interface with the clients and subcontractors on all technical and industrial matters relating to the project
- Provide technical support to shop floor personnel and quality department
- Identify and/or initiate qualifying SRED activity/claims and maintain SRED documentation
Estimating & Costing:
- Participate in feasibility review of new opportunities and quoting new projects with subcontracted work and material purchasing as necessary.
- Participate with team to monitor job performances and see where improvements can be made in cost, quality and/or productivity.
- Provide input and assistance with maintaining the company’s Key Performance Indicators and participate in monthly operations meeting
Quality:
- Coordinate process reviews with quality coordinator to ensure in-process inspection reporting is compliant with customer requirements and machining process
- Aid the quality department in the completion of PPAP requirements, Control Plans and PFMEA
- Participate and coordinate with quality department problem solving for manufacturing concerns both internally and externally
- Abide by ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards, processes, and procedures
Qualifications:
- College diploma in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
- 3+ years of relatable experience in CNC Machining
- Experience with Solidworks, Mastercam, Excel and familiarity with ERP systems considered an asset
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerance
- Knowledge of cutting tools is an asset
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment, materials, tooling, pneumatics, hydraulics, and controls related to CNC machining
- Practical knowledge of costing elements
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Use of statistical data and techniques/analysis/performance metrics
