The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager Survey & Site Investigations to join Sydney Metro. The role is responsible for coordinating a range of field and laboratory investigations of potential rail corridor and station locations to provide technical information to support project design development including investigations to determine Geotechnical conditions and provision of Survey information, including desktop and site investigations and investigations to determine the location, type and extent of Utilities that may interface with the proposed rail corridor and infrastructure.
The successful applicant will also be involved in the following:
Coordinate with technical advisors to identify the information required from investigations to support the design and constructability assessments, and ensuring the information provided meets the specification, technical and quality requirements
Coordinate the identification and specification of site investigations requirements, scope, approvals and access to enable site investigation works.
Manage service providers in conducting the investigations, including safety, contract compliance, time, cost and quality of the services provided
Coordinate site investigations, including boreholes and other testing to determine the physical properties of soil and rock underlying the site, mechanical properties such as strength of different soil or rock strata, ground water conditions, and chemical content, and collection of soil samples for visual observation and laboratory testing
Coordinate any site and laboratory testing and analysis by the service providers in order to gather relevant information as required
Coordinate progress of investigation works, including ensuring any required approvals are obtained by the service providers in advance of the works, and timely communication and coordination with stakeholders, interfacing parties, and the community

About you
In this role you will be responsible for project managing work packages delivered by external service providers, and coordination with external utilities. To be successful in this role, you will have a geotechnical background and site managerial experience. You will be an organised person who thrives in a fast paced, highly complex environment with the ability to work across multiple projects at any given time. You possess excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.
Essential requirements
Tertiary qualification in either an Engineering, Construction, Project Management or related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent experience in civil, structural or geotechnical engineering projects
Salary and benefits
