Manager of Customer Order Management

The Role:

The Manager of Customer Order Management will manage a team that is responsible for order management operations between AMD and its customers. They build strong and sustaining relationships at operational, managerial, and executive levels within both the Customers' and AMD’s organizations. The Customer Ops Manager leverages these relationships to manage and contain escalations, and drive process improvement internally and externally. They provide strategic direction, develop employees, and measure and improve team performance. This role is responsible for achieving strategic, organizational goals.

The Person:

Proven success with order management is essential. If you are a pro at developing/strengthening customer relationships, with ability to manage conflict internally and externally to balance AMD and customer success then this is a great role for you! Key will be your ability to initiate difficult conversations with executives and present facts to make challenging decisions, as well as proven experience managing across functional dependencies

Key Responsibilities:

You will manage a customer-facing team which is responsible for all operational aspects between AMD and the customer.

  • Identify and manage key internal and external strategic relationships at multiple levels of management to ensure business continuity
  • Promote and facilitate business opportunity for AMD and its customer to maximize AMD’s opportunities
  • Drive projects and processes of significant strategic or commercial impact and provide consultative direction with senior management
  • Develop self and team, providing the tools and training to achieve goals, support career planning, and to enhance the organization’s capability
  • Enable effective and efficient service through operational excellence and customer collaboration
  • Develop functional strategy and provide leadership in the implementation of new processes in support of the strategy
  • Support revenue attainment by identifying supply risks and business opportunities
  • Guide team through developing and managing key process indicators to reduce costs and improve service levels
  • Engage with customers through quarterly business reviews and operational meetings
  • Provide guidance and support on issue resolution
  • Remove obstacles for employees, and create a motivating and safe work environment

Preferred Experience:

  • Sr level experience in a similar order management role, doing process development and control. 
  • Solid experience with EDI order management capabilities
  • Solid managerial experience with a successful track record of resource management and developing team members; project management experience preferred.  
  • Experience managing remote employees is preferred
  • Able to lead, influence and drive change cross-functionally
  • Possess understanding of business strategy and the ability to identify areas for process improvement
  • Ability to tailor management style to effectively guide team members in various circumstances and readiness levels
  • Minimal travel may be required

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) is preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred

Location:  Austin, Texas

This is not a remote role. Candidate must live a commutable distance to the Austin office (or be open to relocate).
