We are currently seeking an experienced Mine & Refinery SupportManager. This role is based in Rio Tinto’s Brisbane hub and reports to the General Manager Transformation and Technical support. The purpose of this Senior Management role is to provide strategic direction across the business from a functional and operational perspective; and leadership of a diverse team that is critical to efficient and effective operational outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will:

Lead a team of experienced mining and refining subject matter experts. The team’s areas of expertise include mining engineering, process engineering, modelling, process control and process chemistry

Provide timely and effective technical support to our mining and refining operations in the areas of trouble shooting, modelling, operational support, design, risk reviews, productivity improvement and technical investigations

Contribute technical input to nominated improvement, capital and development programs

Provide technical training and mentoring across the Pacific Operations business.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

A strong safety focus, a commitment to your own safety and to those around you

Operations experience and knowledge of surface mining, minerals processing beneficiation and/or hydrometallurgy as well as a strong understanding of complex processing plants.

A people leader with a proven ability to get maximum performance from their team.

Ability to engage effectively with operational General Managers and Managers at the four Aluminium PacOps mine & refinery sites and the Integrated Operations Centre

An effective leadership style to support a diverse team of operations personnel to achieve safety, environmental, and cost objectives & developing/empowering team members resulting in positive employee engagement.
