About the role:

The Manager Design Standards will provide strategic leadership to the people and programmes of the Design Standards team. This include development of a strategic framework for courthouse property design thinking reference design and design standards and how these are used across the Ministry. You will be working alongside our Relationship and Co-design teams ensuring the specific outcomes from co-design sessions with iwi, and other key stakeholders is utilised in our design requirements.

The role includes building strong relationships with key internal clients, and with leading external courthouse experts including architects and engineers.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and lead a high performing Design Standards team
• Establish clear accountabilities, expectations and performance standards with direct reports and ensure regular performance management and development occurs.
• Monitor individual and team performance to ensure that performance targets are met.
• Maintain legislative and regulatory overwatch for changes that will impact on how courthouses in New Zealand are designed.
