About the team

 

The People Communications and Engagement branch connects, inspires and empowers the people of Transport to deliver on our strategic objectives and bring our cultural aspirations to life. Our team create and deliver strategy and plans that connect meaningful engagement activity to business outcomes, impactful and creative content and innovative campaigns. We tell Transport’s story, drive positive change and are helping to build a culture that puts customers at the centre, people at the heart and delivers outcomes for the greater good.

 

 

The opportunity

 

We have a temporary opportunity, up to 12 months, available for a Manager, Communications & Engagement to join our People Communications & Engagement branch.  The role will support the Project & Change Communications team in delivering communication strategy and plans which enable Transport to achieve its projects and change objectives.

 

Project & Change Communications team: this position plays a pivotal part in ensuring project and change programs across Transport are effectively explained, promoted and managed by creating engaging, meaningful content for use across internal and external channels.  In this role you will have a direct impact on making the experience of people at Transport a positive one and fulfilling Transport’s cultural aspiration of keeping people at the heart.  

 

This role will work closely with key business areas in leading the projects we support across People and Culture.  Your initial project focus will be catering to communications with staff returning to work via our Hybrid Working model.

 

Your role will be to drive development and implementation of high value, future-focused internal communication and engagement strategies to help team Transport deliver its strategic agenda while supporting the people experience. 

 

Key priorities/deliverables of your role will include:

 

Effectively manage a small team that can balance complex needs and priorities in an agile way while maintaining the ability to be proactive and innovatively meet future needs

Partner with the business to develop and implement communications and engagement strategies that support an agile way of working while delivering on specific business needs and priorities

Leverage your experience, knowledge of the business and critical thinking skills to provide strategic advice and guidance to leaders, partners and key stakeholders across the division

Manage and oversee the delivery of strategic communications and engagement activities in line with Transport’s vision, values and business priorities

Manage and oversee the development of engaging, impactful and targeted content that resonates with key audience groups, in turn, driving engagement that builds relationships and ultimately achieves business outcomes

Work in step with your peers and colleagues across the communications function to support shared success and attention to results

About you

 

You are a diligent, authentic and collaborative team player

You have a proven track record in delivering successful internal and/or external change communication plans that have positively engaged and inspired large and diverse audiences

A natural self-starter, you build relationships easily and can work with multiple stakeholders with competing deadlines and conflicting priorities

You have a can-do attitude, excellent communication skills and solid experience operating both autonomously and under direction in a complex, customer-centric, fast-paced environment

You maintain a strong work ethic and have previous exposure to or awareness of political sensitivities and confidentiality in what you do

You’re a professional who models the highest standards of integrity and professional conduct

You will have strong written communication skills which allow you to support the development of communications and engagement plans and communications content

You will be comfortable managing and prioritising a high volume of requests as well as managing expectations of different internal stakeholders at the same time while tailoring approaches to the specific audiences

You will have a proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and building sustainable networks

Tertiary-qualified in Communications, Journalism, Marketing (or relevant discipline), or equivalent experience.

The salary for this position is Transport Service Grade 9 ($138,670 - $155,309) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
