Job Description

About us

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

The Division

The Greater Sydney Division is redefining integrated transport choices to improve the lives of customers and communities, making Greater Sydney a better place to live, work and play. We have the single biggest place making opportunity at Transport in the coming years, reshaping Greater Sydney into a metropolis of three cities – Eastern Harbour City, Central River City and Western Parklands City - whilst also overseeing the Greater Sydney region as a whole.

Greater Sydney is focused on these three cities and delivering a joined-up transport network and services to ensure these cities become the places that their customers and communities really want.

The opportunity

This is great opportunity to join our Community and Place branch as the Manager, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement for Western Parklands City.

The role will manage the development and implementation of strategic and corporate communications for the branch. A major focus for this role will be the development and implementation of a communications strategy for major road projects in the area.

Further responsibilities include:

Manage the development and implementation of strategic and corporate communication strategies and plans.

Assist in the establishment of effective communications platforms that are flexible, responsive and can be targeted to the level, nature and type of audience for each type of communication.

Work across the organisation interacting with key internal stakeholders to ensure that diverse communication activities remain aligned to and consistent with strategic and corporate communication principles and strategies.

This is a Fixed Term Full Time position to June 2025. The role will offer a hybrid working arrangement, but there is an expectation that the successful candidate be available for regular meetings in the Western Parklands City and Sydney CBD.

For more information on the position, you can view the role description here.

About you

The successful candidate will be a community engagement professional, ideally with previous experience working on large construction or infrastructure projects, or within an operational environment. Having worked in an operational environment, you will have a flair for interpreting and translating technical information into digestible material for your chosen audience.

You will demonstrate impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, as you will partner with various internal and external stakeholders to assist in the delivery of communications campaigns for our customers. Working in a politically sensitive climate on high-profile projects, you have proven ability to demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.

We are looking for a strategic, creative, big-picture thinker, who can adapt quickly and manage competing priorities in an everchanging environment.

Formal qualifications in a relevant field are a bonus, but not essential.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Grade 9 ($138,670 - $155,309) per annum, plus superannuation, flex and leave loading. To read more about the benefits of working for TfNSW, click here.
