Oversees the management and delivery of assigned AI Labs within the organization. Responsible for successfully delivering initiative work and establishing strong collaborative working relationships with subject matter experts. Core understanding of new technologies and responsible to approve proposed direction from IT to improve ongoing and future programs. Manages the planning, design, and implementation of improvement activities for the assigned AI labs. Ensure data readiness/quality are delivered per the prescribed timelines, as well as business requirements, risks, resources, and scope are managed according to lab objectives. Engages available business units in improvement initiatives pertaining to the assigned AI labs. Creates a positive and collaborate environment for employees to foster lean thinking and resulting actions.

 

Key Functions & Accountabilities:

Mentor business initiative leader through the different stages of their initiative following an appropriate improvement approach.

With AI CoE team members, develop work plans, schedules and estimates for AI lab activities.

Properly identify risk and issues, implementing mitigating actions to remove roadblocks. Facilitate problem-solving and decision making at the initiative level to ensure quality throughout the initiative life cycle, escalating as required.

Participate with IT on benchmarking of new technologies, best practices, and other competitor assessment studies to enrich future or present opportunities within the scope of the AI labs.

Ensure proper root cause identification.

Ensures initiatives are aligned with IT and synchronized for the best outcome for the lab objectives.

Establish goals and regularly review performance to assist in a positive and accurate technical evaluation of the lab activities.

Work with the project team to assess status and ensure that the project as a team is delivering as expected.

Organize appropriate team update meetings to ensure senior management understand cross-dependencies and are kept informed of progress and outcomes. 

Facilitate group learning sessions and improvement workshops

Work with change agent to engage all lab participants improvement initiatives.

Ensures initiatives have an effective change management /communication plan aligned to Flight Path and corporate requirements. 

Engages corporate learning and development team to design and develop learning experiences for initiatives.

Ensures that new processes and changes are documented & communicated.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

6+ years’ experience in different languages considered an asset (ie SQL, Python, MATLAB, R etc.) and overseeing technically driven projects.

Training in Agile methodology/project management is an asset (i.e. PMP, CAPM, CSM etc.)

Knowledge of advances statistical models and probability distributions

Knowledge of various AI/ML models and when they are applicable.

Demonstrated capability for inspiring and developing teams for success.

Ability to cultivate strong collaborative working relationships and viewed as credible.

Effective communication skills and ability to influence and persuade others to action.

Ability to communicate complex ideas in a digestible way to the appropriate audiences.

Effective organizational skills and an aptitude for managing the pace of change.

Strong analytical skills and a passion for delivering results.

Undergraduate Degree or equivalent tenure in computer science, statistical analysis, mathematics, application development and/or business management. 

2+ years demonstrated experience leading improvement initiatives, delivering benefits.

Able to travel on a regular basis.

Ability to mentor / coach business colleagues on the use of mobile devices and apps.

Knowledge of the broad business areas of the Airline operations and their process/technical interdependencies is an asset.
