The Division
The Customer Strategy and Technology team within Transport leads the development of long-term, multi-modal strategies, plans and policies across NSW. We leverage data and insights, implement new technologies, drive innovation and build partnerships to provide customer-centred solutions.
About the team
The Aboriginal Engagement team are experts in providing cultural leadership to connect people and build relationships between Aboriginal stakeholders, communities and Transport to deliver on our strategic objectives for transforming First Nations peoples’ aspirations and priorities into reality.
Our team collaborates, inspires and empowers the people of Transport to develop innovative strategies, plans and services that deliver meaningful engagement activity and outcomes to Aboriginal customers and that improves access to infrastructure, services, programs and grows NSW’s First Economy.
With a strong foundation in identity, community and Country, our team helps to transform the lives of the people we serve by giving a strong Aboriginal voice which puts customers at the centre and delivers outcomes for the greater good to enable Aboriginal people and communities to value and trust Transport for NSW.

The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager Aboriginal Engagement to join the Aboriginal Engagement team within the Customer Strategy and Experience Branch.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Aboriginal Engagement Strategy & Greater Sydney, you will be responsible for managing key project relationships to ensure a quality and consistent approach with Aboriginal stakeholders across the Fast Rail Program. The role will manage a range of critical tasks to ensure strong working relationships are formed and project issues are managed. The role will work collaboratively across different program work streams for the implementation of a range of Fast Rail engagement initiatives and programs.
What you will be involved in
You will coordinate and promote a collaborative, consistent and transparent approach to Aboriginal engagement to facilitate the planning and delivery of the fast rail program.
You will work collaboratively with Aboriginal stakeholders to ensure strong working relationships are established.
You will identify and provide advice on key interface issues that could impact the fast rail program and provide support and advice where required to ensure their effective management.
You will implement the external engagement framework for Aboriginal stakeholders and ensure all workstreams are accountable for their inputs and their management of relationships.
You will identify and track key issues and risks associated with the planning, development and delivery of the fast rail program.
You will support supplier events and influence other internal/external engagement forums aimed at developing and engaging with Aboriginal suppliers or generalist suppliers to motivate and improve supplier diversity, performance and drive Aboriginal economic development and employment.
You will develop strong and cooperative working relationships with senior staff within TfNSW, other Government agencies, partners and stakeholder groups to facilitate the exchange of information and ensure a consistent approach and response.
About you
You are an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
You have demonstrated experience in Aboriginal community engagement and the ability to be an advocate for Aboriginal interests.
You possess demonstrated high level people management and communication skills with an ability to influence others and achieve cooperation with stakeholders in both the business sector and local communities.
You have strong collaboration skills and a track record of building and maintaining effective partnerships with Aboriginal businesses and suppliers.
You are flexible, with the ability to adapt to a changing and complex environment. You have worked tight deadlines and have a successful track record in delivering great customer experience outcomes
You possess a current motor vehicle driver’s license and a willingness to work outside normal working hours and travel on occasion.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is TfNSW Grade 9 ($138,670 - $155,309 per annum) plus superannuation and leave loading.
