We are seeking our next Major Hazard Facilities HSE Manager to join our Group Health, Safety and Environment team and perform this critical role at our MHF site at Arndell Park, NSW. This important role is responsible for developing and managing the Major Hazard Facility Safety Case. Your remit will be to implement, monitor, and report on compliance against the safety case and ensure the business stays compliant. You will be providing HSEQ advice and guidance whilst working working with site leadership on improving safety processes and culture.

As the Major Hazard Facilities HSE Manager, you will be responsible for:

Working with the management team and staff to ensure compliance to site MHF Safety Case licence and applicable licence conditions.

Managing the development, maintenance and submission of the Safety Case, Emergency Plans and the sites regulatory ‘license to operate’ certifications and other licenses/ permits (ie. EPA, Poison, Site Security Ammonium Nitrate, etc.).

Providing HSEQ/MHF leadership, expert technical support and knowledge at site level in relation to regulatory and legislative requirements.

Developing, coordinating, delivering and reporting on the sites process safety programs that contribute to enabling the operations to meet compliance obligations for Major Hazard Facilities and Dangerous Goods.

Providing HSEQ advice and guidance, working with site leadership on improving process safety and supporting our people in delivering initiatives that continually improve our HSE culture and performance.

Actively support and assist in the consultation and successful implementation of the Health Safety Environment Quality (HSEQ) Global Management System and liaise with key stakeholders to action HSE matters and ensure continuous improvement.

This role provides technical expertise into the identification and management of all HSEQ and MHF risks related to the site’s activities.  Specifically, the role is responsible for identifying and interpreting legal requirements and providing operational advice and guidance to manage risks and ensure compliance to relevant legislative requirements and Standards, including MHF, WHS, ADG/ IMDG.

Qualifications

 To be successful in this role, you will need:

2-3 years in a safety role within an MHF site or D&G environment.

Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in Chemical/ Process/ Industrial Engineering and/ or other relevant discipline would be advantageous.

Practical experience in the development and management of safety cases, license applications and compliance activities for Major Hazard Facilities.

Detailed knowledge of HSE legislation, industry standards and management system standards (AS4801, ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001, etc).

Dangerous Goods and Auditing qualifications/ training are desirable.
