From EastEnders, Doctors, Holby City and Casualty to River City and Pobol y Cwm, our programmes remain a constant source of gripping entertainment, featuring cliff-hanger storylines and much-loved characters with whom our viewers have grown up.
A fast paced BAFTA winning Continuing Drama about the staff and patients at the Holby City Emergency Department, charting the ups and downs in their personal and professional lives whilst tackling many controversial and taboo issues. Through great writing and visual flair the show balances gritty realism with high drama to keep its millions of dedicated viewers coming back for more, on-screen and on-line, week in week out.
You will work with Editorial & Production Heads/Executive Producer to manage the production from green lighting to delivery, balancing editorial aims, delivery requirements, people and financial resources, in order to deliver value for money.
You will ensure that the Production complies with all BBC policies and guidelines, including upholding Editorial Values, compliance with Health and Safety regulations, and employment policies.
The successful candidate will be required to take the lead for driving forward any strategies on new ways of working for Casualty including changes arising from new technology, development of multiplatform content and media asset management.
In a fast changing production environment, you will be able to work strategically, using lateral thinking and quick decision making skills, challenging assumptions and developing and driving forward new ways of working.
You will be expected to demonstrate motivational and inspirational leadership for production colleagues and to maintain a creative and collaborative culture.
You will have a strong track record of production managing or line producing in television drama with wide experience of reconciling artistic aspiration with financial constraint, of planning and revising large production budgets and schedules and to deliver programmes on time and within budget.
You will have a thorough knowledge of the production process, including studio/location, live/pre-recorded processes, craft roles and facility/technical requirements.
You will also have a sound knowledge of internal and external resource and facilities markets and market costs and have sufficient knowledge to assess competence of contractors/suppliers to meet BBC requirements together with experience of recruiting, leading, managing and motivating production teams and an enthusiasm and interest in BBC Drama Production, especially Casualty.
