Placements and traineeships at our firm are an excellent way to learn the intricacies of the day-to-day work involved in litigation. During placements and traineeships at our firm, law students and graduates work closely with, and assist, our solicitors and paralegals as they carry out the following duties:

Responsibilities

• Drafting and reviewing contracts and policy documents for clients

• Assisting the Firm’s clients in resolving contractual disputes

• Managing the Firm’s litigation matters

• Identifying appropriate regulatory requirements for businesses and assessing their level of compliance

• Identifying areas of risk in business operations and taking steps to safeguard client interests

• Managing the lodgement of court documents

• Counselling clients with respect to corporate structures and business franchising

• Determining appropriate licensing requirements for businesses and assisting in their procurement

• Handling matters of general commercial and property law

• Monitoring the work of paralegal and administrative staff

• Assisting the Firm in recruitment efforts

• Preparing bills of costs and undertaking other accounting practices

Requirements

• Bachelors degree or higher in law with the excellent academic record

• Strong well-rounded technical knowledge and experience in various areas of commercial law will be highly regarded

• A passion for legal research and pursuing excellence at work

• Experience in commercial litigation will be highly regarded

• Working knowledge of popular legal research database solutions such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships internally and externally

• Exemplary organisation and time management skills

• Strong commercial/business acumen
