Are you looking for a legal career which is rewarding and where you can really make a difference? Well we’re looking for a talented and self-starting Legal Counsel to come and join our Corporate & Customers Legal Team!
EDF is the industry leader in low carbon generation and has a strong vision to help Britain achieve Net Zero. The Customers business unit carries out a range of activities from supplying electricity and gas to commercial and residential customers, to delivering energy services solutions and the Corporate business unit is responsible for various internal functions including employment, litigation, supply chain, corporate finance, transactions and board support.
As a Legal Counsel, your work is critical to the success of the business with responsibilities which include:
Our teams are set up to work flexibly, therefore you don’t have to live in London and the South East. As long as you’re able to travel to the office 2/3 days a week to collaborate with your team and stakeholders, you can be based anywhere in the UK. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.
Emma Brown, Legal Counsel says “Since I have joined EDF I’ve really appreciated the focus on balancing the demands of the role with achieving a good work-life balance and fostering good mental health. Simple things like confirming that if you do not want to have your camera on in a video meeting, that is ok, or assurances that we can go to our supervisors with any personal issue we may be having. When I have worked particularly hard on a project involving working into the late hours, this has been reflected with flexibility elsewhere in the working week and my personal non-working time is respected.â€
You’ll be confident collaborating with the complete range of seniority across the business and experienced in planning and managing complex legal matters simultaneously with responsive, succinct and pragmatic day-to-day advice.
You’ll have a proactive, can-do approach and strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify risk, risk mitigations and present suitable options to the business balancing risk and reward. You’ll also have great attention to detail, providing highly pragmatic legal advice in the context of an established, commercial and operational business.
If you have relevant post qualification experience as a solicitor admitted in England and Wales with well-rounded legal knowledge and an interest in the energy industry then we’d love to hear from you! We have a full job description available and you can request this at application stage if you would like to view it by emailing Adelaide.beacher@edfenergy.com
