Job Description:
The Learning Design & Innovation Specialist is responsible for the creation of course content for all employee-level programs working within a highly collaborative digital learning and design team.
Key responsibilities
- Create engaging learning experiences and environments and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer
- Collaborates with subject matter experts and other stakeholders in editing, writing, and designing instructional content for courses, in voice and style suited to the target audience, and in accordance with institutionally determined learning models and best practices.
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc). Writes scripts for video and audio content.
- Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
- Provides oversight of the quality of work performed by external vendors.
- Builds and maintains master courses, ensuring that learning materials, activities and assessments are all consistent with the learning outcomes and commensurate with the learning needs of diverse audience for which the course is designed.
- Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
The ideal candidate will [have / be]:
- Curious mindset
- Excellent knowledge of instructional design models & theory, including assessment. Understanding of web site design best practices
- Solid knowledge of course development software (which include but are not limited to Articulate, Captivate, PowToons, Blackboard…) and at least one Learning Management System
- Excellent visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard.
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts
- Critical thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
- Curiosity for new learning technologies (examples Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality)
