We are a small purpose built swim facility based at Berhampore School in Wellington. We are dedicated to providing quality Learn to Swim instruction to children aged from 6 months of age to 12 years of age. 

We are currently recruiting part time swim instructors to work on our friendly small team providing quality swim instruction. Willingness to work a weekend day is essential. We have 2 jobs available - These jobs are approximately is 5-15 hours per week depending on successful applicant availability and the bookings received throughout the year each term. 

Our classes run seven days a week with shifts available between 9am - 7pm weekdays and 8am - 5pm weekends.
One weekend shift is expected of all our swim instructors as these are our busiest shifts and most probably a Sunday morning shift. 

All of our classes are taught from in the water for the duration of your shift and we do provide you with a wet-suit & rash vest as a uniform to teach in. 
Our pool is heated to 32 degrees celsius and has a retractable roof so at times you will be working in an outdoor pool, we operate all 4 school terms of the year and do run holiday intensives in each holiday break. School terms are usually 10 weeks in duration. 
We pride ourselves on offering classes that are relaxed with great structure in a very conducive environment for teaching. 

Although we would prefer an instructor with experience, we can provide training to the right candidate as finding the right fit for our team and for our customers is most important to us. 
 
Your key responsibilities in this role are the following:

• To instruct learn to swim lessons for children aged from 6 months of age - 12 years of age at all levels of the spectrum from those beginning their swimming journey to those who can swim for up to 30 minutes and all 4 strokes. 
• To plan your lessons to focus on the key aims and objectives of our swim school and each individual level. 
• To assess each of your students at the end of each term to assist with the individualised approach we take to the re-booking process. 
• To be able to communicate effectively with all of our customers including swimmers, their parents and with team members at Little Makos Swim School. 

Skills and experience:

 In this role the successful applicant will need to have the ability to self manage and be both reliable and punctual. They must have enthusiasm for teaching children to swim and a willingness to learn and take instruction. You will be working in a small team environment and we would expect you to be able to communicate with your fellow team members and to be an important part of our swim school team. 

A current first aid certificate &  experience in teaching swimming are preferred but full training will be given to the right applicants as it is important to us that the people we hire would fit in well with our existing team.
