Aviva are looking for experienced Lead Underwriters from any location nationally to join us to be aligned to a portfolio of brokers/customers to proactively develop and profitably grow their commercial book of business within Aviva!

The successful applicants will partner with brokers and customers to truly understand their wants and needs, using data insight to ensure we provide whole customer solutions.

In this Lead role you will also be responsible for mentoring and coaching less experienced colleagues in writing and winning more complex, higher value business.

We are highly flexible on location and are keen to engage with experienced underwriters looking to work in London/South East, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Norwich.

Accountabilities

• To be a multiclass underwriter who operates within agreed guidelines and authority levels to profitably grow the book of business

• Dealing end to end with brokers/customers

• Embrace and understand SME strategy

• To be an active mobile underwriter and work effectively and professionally wherever you are located

• To work towards underwriting licence levels as appropriate to your job grade, including the requirements of the Apprenticeship scheme where relevant

• Mentoring and developing others

• Take a role in supporting LUA's and LBR's

• Collaborating with the team and supporting both lead trading underwriter and underwriting leader in delivering financials

Experience

• Excellent communication, listening, time management and negotiating skills

• Analysis of risks and ability to communicate and present effectively to brokers and/or customers

• Working collaboratively within a large complex organisation

• Good knowledge of the FCA and other relevant regulation and legislation

• Strong commercial business acumen to create and deliver business cases

Qualifications

Strong education background, previous commercial underwriting experience.
