We are looking for an experienced individual with a track record of working with others to help lead the change, and define the why.  You will have successfully demonstrated skills in planning for, and delivering change in complex, ambiguous, and changing environments, while keeping people at the centre.

You will also offer:

• Previous change work programme experience.
• The ability to work alongside the Change Manager and others to plan and lead a complex work programme, whilst advising and influencing at all levels.
• The ability to work at pace and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity;
• Strong skills to develop and deliver change management best practice to ensure effective implementation.
• Strong skills in managing risk and emerging issues.
• The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.

The Lead Adviser responsibilities include working with the Change Manager to:

• Lead the development of substantial and/or complex initiatives to support achievement for all learners. 
• Lead the design of coherent, successful implementation design of sector focussed initiatives and change to ensure that the sector and Ministry staff are supported with appropriate resources.
• Provide leadership across specific pieces of work to ensure change and implementation activities support our end goal: doing what works to support progress and achievement for all learners. 
• Have a strong focus on working with the Senior Project Manager of the refresh of The New Zealand Curriculum.

About our group and team

Te PoutāhÅ« (Curriculum Centre) sets the system-level learning for every child and student. Working between policy and customer facing functions, there is a significant political, stakeholder and public interest in the high performance of this group and the education curriculum and teaching workforce outcomes we seek for New Zealand.  

The role of the Curriculum, Pathways & Progress group is to:

• Set the direction for what students learn, how they progress and how school leaders and teachers can achieve that for every child and student across school years 1 to 13. 
• Use evidence and educational trends to design targeted solutions, resources, tools and services that lift educational achievement for all. 
• Co-designs and co‑develop innovative approaches to achieve policy intentions, plans successful implementation strategies and monitors to ensure a return on investment.
