Job Description

Our Tasman team is rapidly growing with plenty of exciting projects to work on. We have a great opportunity for an experienced Landfill Operator to join the fun, dedicated, and supportive team. Working in a stunning location, you will get to grow your skill set with a variety of work whilst also having a good time with the team.

Ultimately, you will be a part of a team that designs, builds, and maintains 25,000 kms worth of roads in Aotearoa. With over 150 years of projects and knowledge under our belts, our position is strong, and our vision is innovative and future focused (just like your career once you join us). We are building sustainable communities that you can be proud to say that you have been a part of producing.

This is an integral hands-on role within our region, where your versatility and contribution will be highly valued, respected, and rewarded meaningfully. A champion of health and safety, day to day, your responsibilities will include operating a range of heavy machinery including our brand new 30 tonne landfill compactor and 20 tonne Excavator. You will also be responsible for the general grounds duties which will keep you physically active as you enjoy the stunning views of your ‘office’.

  • You will have a dedicated personal development plan that is reviewed quarterly empowering you to take ownership of your career!
  • Access to over 50 Training Programs including Leadership Pathways!
  • A comprehensive employee benefits package through our partners - you will receive a great range of corporate discounts and benefits across banking, insurance, retailers, technology, vehicles, automotive, healthcare, childcare, homeware, dental care, travel, accommodation, gym memberships and more!

  • We also encourage our people to participate in community volunteering initiatives and pay for the time you spend helping to make our community better with Downer's volunteer leave!

We are focused on creating a vibrant community of belonging that pursues diversity, builds inclusion, and creates more equitable opportunities for everyone. You will love being a part of the Downer whanau! Come and see for yourself what makes us different, as we continue to build our future! Literally.

About you:
