Job Description

  • Permanent full-time and casual positions available.
  • Work in busy and Christchurch Hospital campus which includes our new hospital building - Waipapa
  • Build a culture of high performance with a customer focus.

This role will have you assisting the Cooks to provide well balanced meals for patients and Meals on Wheels. You will be reliable and someone who takes pride in your work and is dedicated to doing a good job.

You will be part of a team, so good communication skills are important, as well as good customer service skills. Experience in a kitchen assistant role is preferred but not essential.

We are looking for reliable, punctual and motivated Kitchen Assistants to join our teams across Christchurch Campus and Waipapa.

We currently have the below vacancies available;

Full time permanent position working Friday to Tuesday - hours vary but are between 6am and 4.30pm

Full time permanent position working Monday to Friday - hours vary but are between 6am and 4.30pm

Casual positions available - may be required to work weekends hours are between 6am and 4.30pm, and an evening shift between 4.30pm - 7.30pm

The Role: Where you fit in

The wards within Christchurch Hospital are bustling with many patients and their families visiting for short or long stays. We need to ensure our patients are being cared for in every aspect and making sure they are be provided with nutritious meals is crucial in our care model.

You will be working with a large team in busy kitchen and will be responsible for:

  • Plating meals up in the kitchen
  • Cleaning and dishwashing duties
  • Some basic food preparation

Your skills will include:

  • Hard-working team player with a keen eye for detail.
  • Reliable with good time management.
  • Flexible approach and a 'can do' attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills with previous customer service experience.
  • Warm, friendly approach and passionate about people.
