Position Summary
The NSC is seeking Junior Project/Program Management Officers to guide the delivery of the NSC’s schedule of technology and research projects, including the construction and release of complex and innovative data products. This will contribute to the NSC’s role in providing advice and national leadership on Australia’s labour market and current, emerging and future workforce skills needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Managing each project’s integrity, risk and assurance processes
- Managing contracts of providers and agencies
- Taking on a variety of functions including program delivery and management, communication, secretariat support, benefits realisation and risk management
- Liaising with delivery partners, including but not limited to, the Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE), the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), data vendors, State and Territory Governments
- Undertaking tender assessment processes and contracting
- Prepare and have input into briefs, minutes, reports and other documents and statistical reports to a high standard.
- Build and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to achieve and promote project outcomes and represent the NSC in external forums
- Actively participating in a collaborative team environment based on supportiveness, development, knowledge sharing and effective communication
- Actively engage in change management processes
- Foster a performance culture by supporting staff and career development
- Adhere to relevant Acts, Accountable Authority Instructions, Delegations and departmental policies
- Convey a positive and professional image of the NSC and DESE and model the expected behaviours of the DESE Values, APS Code of Conduct and APS Values providing support to the SES to deliver departmental and government priorities
Qualifications and Education
- Qualifications and/or experience relevant to the role will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge/Experience in skills, labour markets, higher education or VET would be an advantage but not essential.

- Demonstrated high standard of written and verbal communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external working relationships
- Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills, including sound judgement and the ability to interpret data, reports and other information
- Good conceptual, analytical, and communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
- The ability to work under general direction, undertake tasks of moderate complexity and make decisions within defined parameters relating to area of responsibility
- Capability to provide sound advice to influence decisions by others, including supervisors and peers
