Job Description

Are you passionate about the buzz of producing live radio? Do you want to work closely with talented presenters to tell the stories that matter to local people? Do you have the creativity and ambition to give those stories exciting treatments? BBC Radio Berkshire broadcasts to a diverse area of almost 1 million people in urban centres like Reading and Slough, historic Windsor and rural West Berkshire. We’re looking for inspiring producers to lead our programmes who are passionate about connecting with local communities.

Role Responsibility

Generating ideas is a key part of the role. You’ll be responsible for developing ambitious content for our programmes, finding opportunities for storytelling and interaction, and striving to help our presenters be the best they can be. You’ll keep our programmes relevant and relatable and you’ll be excited by the opportunity to use a wide variety of production techniques. You’ll need the experience to be confident producing a live show, dealing with breaking news and changing your plans as the world changes around you.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll have a strong track record in radio production and sound editorial judgement, and you will need to demonstrate a flair for creating compelling programming. You’ll understand how to entertain our audience, including under-served C2DE’s, and how important it is to make radio that’s full of personality as well as local flavour. You’ll be good at dealing with a diverse range of people and experienced at working with presenters. Berkshire is a busy patch and you will have the ability to work efficiently under pressure and to tight deadlines.

You may work across a range of shifts, including weekends.
