Job Introduction

Actu Jeunes is a highly successful topical TV programme for younger teenagers (under-16) which is broadcast across Francophone Africa.  Much of our content is also distributed on digital platforms including BBC Africa’s social media accounts.  The programme aims to help young people make sense of the world they are growing up in, tackle the issues important to them and give them a voice on the key subjects they care about, while remaining entertaining and relatable.

We are looking for a Journalist (Producer) to join our team in London. 

We want someone with strong editorial skills and a passion for engaging young audiences across the continent.  Fluency in French and English is essential.

Role Responsibility

Working in French, you will use your TV and digital production experience to research and  produce news stories for under-16s in ways they can relate to.  This is great role for an ambitious Journalist looking to develop a broad range of skills.  You will script and present your own films, edit content, source guests and produce overseas deployments.

Depending on experience, there is potential to present programmes.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a bilingual French/English speaker.  Complete fluency in written and spoken French is essential and your language ability will be tested as part of the selection process.

Whilst experience of working with teenagers is not essential, you must be able to demonstrate an ability to make content for young audiences.  You will be full ideas for stories that will engage and interest them. 

Experience of researching complex stories, scripting content and sourcing contributors is essential.

An ability to edit on FCPX is highly desirable.  Making TV content which works seamlessly on digital platforms will be second nature to you and you will have plenty of creative ideas for bringing issues to life through visual storytelling.
