Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Program Manager of Jasper Place, is responsible for enhancing the workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to meet Ministry directives and any additional applicable public health requirements imposed by local public health and to ensure that the care needs of the residents are being met during this challenging time.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides oversight to the screening process to ensure staff and visitors are complying with all screening requirements as per the Ministry directives for “Adherence to Screeningâ€.
Reports to administration any areas where noncompliance identified in the screening and testing process
Performs staff and visitor screening as per ministry directives. Maintains the logging of items being dropped off to residents and ensures they are imported in a timely manner.
Assists residents in exporting items to families as required at staff entrance.
Participates in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff by cleaning high touch surfaces, housekeeping duties, and assisting with laundry services, demonstrating an appropriate response to emergencies and safety procedures.
Assists residents with various technologies in order to keep maintain social contacts with family and friends.
Performs Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Testing for staff and visitors as required; gathers related data, and cleans and maintains clinic and testing supplies with Administrative Assistant support.
Records test results into the tracking record, and reports any positive result to the management staff immediately.
Assists in resident activation as directed by the therapeutic recreationist, which may include small group resident programs, friendly visiting to residents’ one on one or in small group, and assisting residents for outdoor activities or walks.
Assists in resident mechanical lifts by being the second standby staff as required by policy.
Performs daily Personal Protection Equipment inventory and stocking, as required.
Assists testers in the COVID-19 testing areas, as required.
Assists the Health Care Staff by answering phone calls, and beckoning or directing messages to the appropriate person.
Assists with the Meals on Wheels program as required.
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: *

Education/Experience: *
Secondary school graduation
Demonstrated experience and interest in working with seniors
*
Skills/Abilities: *
A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly is necessary
Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
Must be self-directed and sensitive to the needs of the elderly
Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act

Assets: *
Experience in caring for the elderly
Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR
*

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be willing to work shifts, including holidays and weekends
Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies
Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment.
Must successfully undergo a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
