Our Internal Communications team helps to build trust and advocacy among our colleagues by designing and implementing brilliant campaigns that inform, involve and inspire. We help our leaders to unite their teams behind our strategy and celebrate our colleagues doing the right thing for our customers.

 

As the Internal Communications Manager (Strategy and Leadership) you will plan and deliver campaigns that connect our colleagues to our strategic priorities and enable engaging two-way conversations with our leaders.  This includes coming up with creative ways to engage with colleagues across our channels, writing copy for these along with leadership messages for the CEO, members of the operating board and broader leaders. You will also support the communication of other key strategic updates and leader messages to our colleagues, such as our financial results, and other activity that ladders up to our purpose – Driven by our passion for food we serve and help every customer – and commitment to Help everyone eat better and the five strategic pillars.

Using excellent written communication skills, you will help ensure the tone of all our leadership communications is open and honest and colleagues always hear news ahead of it being shared externally (except where the news is market sensitive).

You will work within a team of four as well as the wider Internal Comms Campaigns team to develop a programme of campaign and leadership communications activity that ensures colleagues hear regularly from a broad pool of leaders. This includes working closely with the Channels team to ensure our communications get maximum cut-through.

 

More about the role:

 

You will:

  • Plan, deliver and measure engaging internal comms campaigns, learning from each one to improve the next.
  • Plan and produce leadership communications for colleagues, ensuring they are written in an open and honest style, with a clear call to action so that colleagues feel connected to our purpose, brand commitment and strategic priorities.
  • Support the Senior Internal Communications Manager (Strategy & Leadership) in creating a programme of leadership communications that gives our leaders visibility and connects them to our colleagues.
  • Work with the Channels team to ensure our campaigns are delivered in the best way possible to reach as many colleagues as possible, using new and more dynamic channels where appropriate.
  • Work with the Senior Internal Comms Manager (Retail) and Events team on the content for leadership and retail events across the business.
  • Support the Operational internal comms team by occasional providing weekend and evening cover on a rota basis. This includes compiling and sending daily communications and sending urgent messages as appropriate.

  • Highly organised and proactive – able to juggle and prioritise a busy workload
  • Team player with the ability to build strong relationships within the communications team and the wider business
  • Ability to handle large amounts of information and distil into compelling and easy to understand messages
  • Creative thinker with excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Understand the wider business strategy and how leadership and strategy communications can support it
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience of working with Yammer and Teams Live is a plus, but not essential
