The role:

We are seeking an Intermediate Terrestrial Ecologist to provide accurate and efficient scientific services in accordance with project time frames and budgets. You will join a highly regarded team with industry experts across Marine, Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecology and a range of exciting projects across the Asia Pacific Region.

The role will be based in Petone, Wellington. With our ‘Work Your Way’ policy we offer work from home and other flexibility options. Your responsibilities will include –

  • Applies knowledge of terrestrial ecological practices and procedures to projects.
  • Leads technical elements of small projects or contributes to medium to large projects.
  • Participates as a team member in the completion of projects, preparation of reports, proposals, assessments and feasibility studies.
  • Works with senior scientists to develop solutions to complex challenges.
  • Undertakes testing and analysis for ecology and environmental projects as required.
  • Studies, reviews and makes recommendations to improve operations or to solve problems related to quality.
  • Prepare routine reports and documentation.
  • Attend site as and when required.
  • Contributes to strategy and innovation ideas in the team.

About you

To be successful you will display –

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology/Biological Science/Environmental Science or equivalent.
  • 3-5+ years' experience in a similar environment.
  • Ability to manage tasks in accordance with set specifications.
  • Ability to solve problems and manage conflict.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with clients, staff and managers.
  • Desire to take responsibility, work together and co-operate as a team.
  • Develops and improves own capabilities.
