We are looking for an Intermediate lawyer, with a speciality in criminal advocacy, to join our team in our Tauranga office.  We are a collegial and professional office with around 11 legal and support staff working in a busy environment with variety and challenge, and you will be joining an experienced and supportive team.

You will find challenge and satisfaction with the varied caseload, including high profile cases and the opportunity for High Court and Court of Appeal trials and appearances.  You will have colleagues around you who you can learn from and who will support your development to the next level of your career, and a comprehensive professional development programme.  The work comes to the PDS via Legal Aid and you will be supported by professional administrators.

To be successful you must be passionate about criminal justice issues and:

• Have a PAL 2 or 3 approval level and be qualified to practice law in New Zealand
• Have confidence in your ability to develop credibility with judges, peers and others in the legal community
• Enjoy sharing legal expertise, exchanging ideas and brainstorming
• Have empathy and the ability to relate to a wide range of people
• Be committed to the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi
