Job Description

You are an experienced professional in international relations and have a passion for parliamentary procedure? We're looking for someone to lead our Inter-Parliamentary Relations team, who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Join the Parliamentary Engagement team and provide expert advice on a day-to-day basis while leading the implementation of the Inter-Parliamentary Relations strategy and projects for the parliamentary agencies.

You'll be responsible for the following:

  • Managing, and providing the direction for inter-parliamentary channels for Parliament working closely with the Speaker of the House, Clark of the House, members of Parliament, inter-parliamentary organisations and other key stakeholders
  • Leading, developing and guiding a small number of direct reports and being a member of the wider Parliamentary Engagement leadership team
  • Overseeing the implementation of existing inter-parliamentary programme and the inter-parliamentary relations and engagement strategies and developing plans to support significant projects or organisational change, as required
  • Support parliamentary strengthening and capacity building activities both at the New Zealand Parliament and Pacific Parliaments
  • Promoting knowledge of Te Ao Māori and its relevance to work practices and service delivery in the everyday work of the team

Your ability to build strong relationships and influence within the parliamentary environment will be key to your success in this role, as will your flexibility, critical thinking skills and creativity. Experience in leading people and processes to deliver products and services that meet customers' needs would be an advantage in this role.
