Job description:

Intelligence Analyst, it starts with you!

  • Band - Scale B - $61,113 - $79,087
  • Permanent
  • JR2503461

About the role

New Zealand Police has two permanent positions available for Intelligence Analysts based at our Tāmaki Makaurau Deployment Centre, Otahuhu. This position will support the three Tāmaki Makaurau Districts, Waitematā, Auckland City and Counties Manukau.

Intelligence in New Zealand Police has been on a transformation journey, which continues as we transition into the Tāmaki Makaurau Deployment Centre, a new fit-for-purpose facility designed to bring Police Critical Command Information components together under one roof. Intelligence is used to inform and drive the deployment of operational resources, enable an understanding of the criminal environment and facilitate evidence-based action.

The team is responsible for a broad range of intelligence functions including intelligence analysis, supporting planned and unplanned operations, collection planning and supporting the NZ Police Deployment Model 2017 through providing decision maker advantage. By bringing the three District Intelligence Units together we have created an exciting opportunity to develop and embed the way we deliver intelligence to prevent crime and victimisation. These positions would suit an intelligence professional who has the ability to analyse and perform as part of a high performing team that is dedicated and enthusiastic about intelligence.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrate ability to identify, research, analyse, and critically examine issues or problems.
  • Manage competing demands and high workload at times.
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of professional relationships.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of plans, projects or initiatives
  • Proactively scans for, identifies and analyses emerging or escalating trends in crime, crash and community reassurance, and proposes potential solutions.
  • Routinely apply analytical thinking skills and crime science theory to the analysis of policing issues.
  • Provides advice to decision makers in the form of standardised intelligence products.
  • Participates in the evaluation of the effectiveness of analysis.
  • Presents analysis at Police and partner meetings when required.
  • Provides intelligence support to major incidents as required.
  • Shows flexibility and creativity when it is apparent that a method or approach is not achieving intended outcomes.

What you'll bring

Being part of the Police whānau is about being our best to ensure our communities are safe and feel safe.
