Here at the John Lewis Partnership, we are reinventing our business for the modern retail world. The Analytics teams work alongside both the Data Science team and the Reporting Automation team, to form Analytics & Data Science, which is part of a wider Data, Insight & Analytics directorate
The Analytics team helps the business make better decisions using data. We are recruiting for roles in the Customer Analytics team, where we deliver strategic projects across the John Lewis Partnership: John Lewis, Waitrose & Financial Services. Projects may be focused on one individual brand or a combination of the brands.
We have roles in the following business areas
Insight Manager in the Customer Analytics Team, focusing on Financial Services and Insight Manager in the Operations Analytics Team, focusing on John Lewis Trading.

What you’ll be doing as Insight Manager in the Customer Analytics team
As an Insight Manager in the Customers Analytics team, you will work closely with stakeholders in the John Lewis Financial Services team to help them make better decisions using data on a variety of projects across marketing, insurance, credit, banking and foreign exchange. Existing knowledge of the financial services market is essential.
What you’ll be doing as Insight Manager in the Operations Analytics team
As an Insight Manager in the Operations Analytics team, you will focus on pricing strategies, forecasting sales, measuring availability and lost sales, and helping to shape the category strategy for John Lewis, as well as looking at end to end stock-flow processes and efficiencies.
For Both roles
You will be line managing a small team (up to 4 partners) as well as being hands-on, working with data and advanced analytics.
You will be a technical expert in SQL, and preferably either R or Python, as well as having advanced knowledge in statistics and be comfortable supporting and teaching others those technical skills.
Stakeholder management and storytelling are key parts of the role, as you will face senior leaders in the John Lewis Partnership.
You will support the discovery, interpretation, and communication of meaningful patterns in data, and the application of those patterns for effective decision making.
You will provide data derived recommendations back to the business for key decisions sourced proactively or, when engaged by the business, reactively.
You will leverage complex and analytical techniques to automate and optimise processes where appropriate.

What you’ll have:
Relevant qualification and/or extensive experience in analytics (extensive experience of analytics in a retail environment a plus)
Experience in synthesising complex and ambiguous information in order to drive actionable insight brought to life through communication and visualisation
Track record of influencing business stakeholders
Experience in manipulating large transactional customer databases to identify key business insights
Be the insight-led voice of the customer within the business through an understanding of customer behaviours
Work with the data teams to ensure the right data is available to analysts in order to pull out right insights for the business
Working in R, Python, SAS, SQL, Big Query, Snowflake, Tableau or other programming or statistical languages
