If you have a passion for Human Resources and you're looking for an exciting, new Generalist opportunity, Robert Half has a great opportunity for you as a Human Resources Generalist. In this role, you will perform various HR duties, including managing employee relations, recruiting, conducting new hire orientation, and updating the employee handbook. This is a hybrid role located in Fergus, On. There is opportunity to work from home as well as in office.
Your responsibilities
- Compare existing legislation to current internal policies and procedures
- Manage employee relations, which may include finding new ways to engage employees or coordinating sensitive conversations
- Create employee engagement plans, including budget approvals and management oversite
- Work with other members of the HR department to manage the hiring and onboarding process for new company employees
- Draft templates for various HR documents, including the Employee Handbook
- Develop official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, salary adjustments, updates to the employee handbook, leave of absences, and warning/termination letters
- Conduct employee performance reviews, including assisting with annual reviews, appraising pay scales, and coordinating disciplinary action (including terminations if necessary)
- Maintain physical and digital files for employees and their documents, including benefits, attendance records, and annual reviews
- Accountable for completing various tasks and the daily operations of the HR department
- Collaborate with employees, upper management, and third-party vendors
- Design & /or support a recruitment plan according to operational and business projections
- Create onboarding plans and educate newly hired employees on internal procedures, HR policies, and regulations
- Prior HR experience in a Generalist capacity
- Eagerness to work independently as well as part of a team with flexibility and willingness to learn and take initiative on variety of tasks and projects
- Full cycle recruiting experience
- Experience using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
- You should be highly detail oriented; able to use good judgment and maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity
- Excellent written and verbal business skills
- Prior experience or knowledge managing Open Enrollment is a plus
- CHRP designation an asset
- Proficient with office computer applications and software, as well as social media platforms
- Post Secondary education in a related field an asset
