If you have a passion for Human Resources and you're looking for an exciting, new Generalist opportunity, Robert Half has the opportunity for you as a Human Resources Generalist. This role will involve various HR duties, including recruiting, conducting new hire orientation, updating the employee handbook, and managing employee relations.
What you get to do every single day
- Assess employee performance, including appraising pay scales, assisting with annual reviews, and coordinating disciplinary action (including terminations if necessary)
- Create official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, salary adjustments, updates to the employee handbook, leave of absences, and warning/termination letters
- Compare local, state, and federal laws to current internal policies and procedures
- Develop a recruitment plan according to operational and business projections
- Collaborate with employees, upper management, and third-party vendors
- Develop templates for HR documents, including the Employee Handbook
- Manage employee relations, which may include finding new ways to engage employees or coordinating sensitive conversations
- Manage digital and physical files for employees and their documents, including benefits, attendance records, and annual reviews
- Accountable for completing various tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department
- Create onboarding plans and educate newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations
- Develop employee engagement plans, including budget approvals and management oversite
- Collaborate with other members of the HR department to oversee the hiring and onboarding process for new company employees
- Eagerness to work independently as well as part of a team with flexibility and willingness to learn and take initiative on variety of tasks and projects
- Strong understanding of Ontario Legislation
- Excellent written and verbal business skills
- Post-secondary diploma, degree, or certificate in Human Resources management or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience
- Minimum of 3 years of recruiting experience
- Minimum 3 – 5 years Generalist and/or coordination experience in Human Resources
- The responsibilities of this position will require you to be highly professional; able to use good judgment and maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity
- Prior HR Generalist experience preferred
- Experience with full cycle recruiting
- Skilled in technology applications and software, as well as social media platforms
- Prior experience implementing and coordinating Open Enrollment is a plus
